Trainee Counsellor Placements

These are some of the organisations in Swansea where trainee counsellors of WELL Training have gained counselling placements.

Primary Health Care

Swansea NHS Trust provides specialist Mental Health Services for the population of Swansea. This is provided to three main different groups of patients:

  • Adults of working age with mental illnesses 
  • Older people’s mental health services 
  • Substance Misuse Services

 

CISS
Cancer Information and Support Services (CISS) is a registered charity that was set up in May 1993 to help cancer patients in South West Wales.

 

CRUSE

Cruse Bereavement Care exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people and to enable anyone bereaved by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss. The organisation provides support and offers information, advice, education and training services.

 

WGCADA

Clients are offered one-to-one counselling and/or support, enabling them to make effective positive decisions about their lives, whilst retaining a balanced degree of care towards their family or friend

Morriston Hospital

The following range of specialist services are also provided by the Trust for adults with mental health problems : 

  • Primary Health Care Liaison Services (situated in general practices in Swansea). 
  • DGH Liaison & Bereavement Counselling services based at Morriston Hospital. 
  • Prison Inreach Mental Health Team, based at HMP Swansea. 
  • Court Diversion and Custody Suite Inreach provided at Swansea Magistrates Court and Swansea Central Police Station. 
  • Specialist psychology and psychotherapy services based in Cefn Coed Hospital and community settings in Swansea. 
  • Eating Disorder services based at Orchard Day Centre in central Swansea.

 

Social Services

Services available through the Community Mental Health Teams

  • Day and drop in services
    These offer services like education, employment advice and training, leisure activities, and life skills to help you become more confident and assertive while improving your skills.
  • Accommodation Services
    We can help you find a place where you can live while learning new skills, helping you to become more confident and independent, until you can move into your own accommodation, with the level of support which suits you.
  • Respite Services
    These can provide a break from the place you usually live, perhaps because your carer is away, or because you need extra support for a while.
  • Counselling and therapy services
    A range of services to help alleviate the effects and development of mental illness and improve your sense of wellbeing.
